Outsourcing Exercise
The Intellectual Property Department, Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region awarded to Azeus Systems Limited a five-year contract commencing on 1 December 2006 at a value of HK$79,233,835 to outsource the non-core services of the Department.
The scope of the outsourcing project comprises the provision of information technology (IT) and office operation services. The Department hopes to tap private sector expertise to maximize efficiency in delivering an enhanced service with better value for money. The project scope comprises the following services as a package ¡V

Management, maintenance and support of existing IT systems
This comprises the management, maintenance and support of existing systems including -

the internal automated processing systems for trademarks, patents and designs as well as the online search and e-filing systems; and
- Local Area Network System, intranet of Government offices and Wide Area Network connecting to the e-commerce systems of the Department.
- Systems Enhancement Services
This involves the enhancements to the existing internal automated processing systems for trademarks, patents and designs as well as the online search and e-filing systems to cope with the existing and new business requirements of the Department.
The Systems Enhancement Services will be acquired on an as and when required basis during the term of the contract.
- Office operations
This comprises both physical and electronic means of service delivery for such functions as receipt of applications, supply of forms and printed guides, public search, and clerical support for the Trade Marks, Patents, Designs and Copyright Licensing Bodies Registries.
