The China Patent Award, jointly organised by the China National Intellectual Property Administration and the World Intellectual Property Organization, aims to encourage and recognise patent owners, design owners and inventors who have made outstanding contributions in implementing innovations and promoting economic and social development.
The China Patent Award comprises three tiers: Gold Award, Silver Award and Excellence Award, covering invention patents, utility models, and designs. Since its establishment in 1989, the award has become one of the highest honours in the field of intellectual property in China.
Recommendation is required for participating in the China Patent Award. This year, the Intellectual Property Department (IPD) has been designated as a recommending authority for the China Patent Award. Hong Kong's innovative entities can participate in the competition through IPD's recommendation.
As an international innovation and technology hub and a regional intellectual property trading centre, Hong Kong is characterized by its numerous outstanding innovative entities and research achievements. By participating in the selection of the China Patent Award, Hong Kong's innovators not only have the opportunity to gain national recognition, but also magnify the influences and market value of their patents, contributing to Hong Kong's technological innovation and economic development.
