Notice on Suspension of Electronic Services

Due to the infrastructure upgrade of the New Integrated IT System (“NIS”) of the Intellectual Property Department (“IPD”), the Trade Marks Registry, Patents Registry and Designs Registry (“the Registries”) will make the following arrangements:

1. Suspension of the E-Filing Service, Online Search Service and Trade Mark Image Search Service

The E-Filing Service at https://efiling.ipd.gov.hk and the Online Search Service at https://esearch.ipd.gov.hk will be suspended from 21:00 on 23 January 2026 to 03:00 on 27 January 2026 (the “suspension period”).  During the suspension period, all forms and correspondences must be submitted in person at IPD’s Public Service Counter within the business hours on a business day, or by mail to 24/F, Wu Chung House, 213 Queen’s Road East, Wanchai, Hong Kong.

As all information accessible through the Image Mark Finder (“iMF”) at https://image-mark-finder.ipd.gov.hk sources from the records in the register accessible via the Online Search Service, the relevant trade mark image search service will also be unavailable during the suspension period.

2. Fax Filing

For documents under section 15 or section 23 of the Patents Ordinance (Chapter 514) that are filed by fax during the suspension period, the hours of business and business days of the Patents Registry shall remain as Monday to Friday (24 hours) for the purpose of determining the earliest filing of those documents.

3. Notice of Interruption in the Operations of the Registries

A “Notice of Interruption in the Operations of Patents Registry, Designs Registry and Trade Marks Registry” (“the Notice”) will be published in the Hong Kong Intellectual Property Journal in accordance with rule 100A of the Patents (General) Rules (Chapter 514 sub. leg.), rule 73A of the Registered Designs Rules (Chapter 522 sub. leg.) and rule 96 of the Trade Marks Rules (Chapter 559 sub. leg.).  The Notice will notify the public that there is an interruption in the operations of the Registries on 26 January 2026, and if the time for filing any document or other thing with the Registrar of Patents, Designs or Trade Marks expires on 26 January 2026, the period shall be extended to 27 January 2026.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience that may be caused to you due to the system suspension. Thank you for your support and understanding.
