* The Trade Marks (Amendment) Ordinance 2020 came into operation on 19.6.2020, except its section 5 and Part 4 concerning trade mark rights to be acquired in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (the Hong Kong SAR) upon implementation of the Madrid Protocol in the Hong Kong SAR. The latter provisions will come into operation on a date to be appointed by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development by notice in the Gazette after completion of all the necessary preparatory work for implementation of the Madrid Protocol in the Hong Kong SAR.
